Her Body

Shrinking body aching body

we together for so long

Running girl child body

dust-streaked arms

floating in a sudsy tub

aroma of dishwashing soap

Bloated body of in-between

back and forth body

burgeoning with new blood

and bones yet-to-be

Mother body oven bird

of bones and blood

fallow ground for

mulching fields

Shrinking body, ancient body

blood and bones but

less and less

together for how long

  1. Beautifully written about a point in life where everything seems so comfortable (if you are fortunate enough) and yet so fleeting as you turn your gaze from behind you to in front of you. All the more reason to get those “old blood and bones” immediately busy at grabbing all the fun, travel and “other stuff” you can get your hands upon.
